Logging Worked Time

Overview

A critical feature of managing a Task is logging your Worked Time on it.

There are two ways to log Worked Time in Blackacre Pro:

  1. Stopwatch: The Stopwatch will log time on a Task from the time it was activated to the time it is deactivated.
  2. Manual entry: Manually entering the exact amount of Worked Time on a particular Task and on a specific date.

Accessing the Stopwatch

Through My Docket

On My Docket, click next to the Task you wish to log time for to activate the Stopwatch.

Once activated, the Stopwatch icon will change color to .

You must click again to deactivate the Stopwatch and finish logging time (you may do this through Task Detail or on My Docket).

Through Task Detail

On My Docket, open the Task Detail for the Task you wish to log time and click to activate the Stopwatch.

Once activated, the Stopwatch icon will change color to .

You must click again to deactivate the Stopwatch and finish logging time (you may do this through Task Detail or on My Docket).

Once Activated

Once the Stopwatch is activated, you will see the icon in the Blackacre Pro header.

You can click this icon to open the Task Detail to either (1) check the Task you are logging time for or (2) deactivate the Stopwatch through Task Detail.

Manually Entering Time

Step 1: Open Task Detail

In My Docket, open the Task Detail of the Task you wish to log time for.

Step 2: Click “Worked”

Step 3: Log Time

Deleting Time

You may delete Worked Time entries which have not been billed or finalized by your Administrator.

Step 1: Navigate to the Task Detail and click “Worked”.

Step 2: Click next to the Worked Time Entry you wish to delete.

PRO TIP

For Matters that will require continuous contact with a Client, try delegating to yourself a single Task with Billing Description “Correspondence with Client” or “Meeting with Client”.

We call these, “Bucket Tasks“.

This way, you can just add time entries to that Bucket Task rather than creating separate Tasks for every email sent or each meeting conducted.

Once the Matter has been closed, then you can mark the Task as complete.

Note: This won’t affect the billing of these entries as time may be billed prior to closing a Task!
